Meryl Greer Domina, PhD

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Meryl Greer Domina has in-depth knowledge of the problems and challenges people experience across the life span. She has worked with children, youth and seniors in community and school settings to resolve conflicts, overcome adversity, promote learning, advance socialization and enhance creativity. 

Meryl studied art therapy, social work and education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. This past year, she earned a Certificate in Gerontology at Northern Illinois University and served as a social work intern at Oak Crest/DeKalb Area Retirement Center. Previously, she earned an MS in Leadership and Administration and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.

Meryl was the social worker at an alternative high school in Chicago serving students who were unable to find success through regular channels. She assisted many students in completing high school and transitioning to post-secondary education and careers. She has extensive knowledge of the many ways people learn which she shares with youth so they understand how to utilize their strengths to overcome learning challenges. She has counseled defiant youth helping them analyze their life and work through their internal conflicts to move towards becoming productive individuals. She teaches peer mediation and communication so clients gain new skills.

After many years of a variety of activities with older adults Meryl looks forward to counseling seniors concerning depression, grief, transitions, family problems, care-giving and other problems. She offers seniors direct assistance with de-cluttering, organizing, and handling daily responsibilities. She is available to assist local seniors with their remote caregivers.
