What is Bowl For Kids’ Sake?
It's about doing something that benefits kids!
Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a long-time community event and is the largest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb County, funding up to 65% of its annual budget. Funds raised provide guidance to at risk children through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and go directly toward matching children with caring Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers.
National studies have shown that Little Brothers and Little Sisters are less likely to begin using illegal drugs and alcohol, less likely to skip school, more confident in their schoolwork performance and able to get along better with their families. Big Brothers Big Sisters was also selected by Forbes Magazine as one of its Top Ten charities, making the publication’s "Gold Star" list of charities which it believes are worthy of donor consideration.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is giving the NIU Campus Community an early opportunity to participate in Bowl For Kids’ Sake. This annual fundraiser benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters programs by supporting over 50% of the department’s budget and will take place on Mon., Oct. 25 and Tues., Oct. 26 at the Huskies Den in the NIU Holmes Student Center. To receive more information or to register to participate, contact the NIU Bowl For Kids’ Sake representative, Lauren Didier, at 847.308.2077 or by calling the BBBS staff at 815.758.8616.
