What is Bowl For Kids’ Sake?
Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a long-time community event and is the largest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb County, funding up to 80% of its annual budget. Funds raised provide guidance to at risk children through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and go directly toward matching children with caring Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers. This year our goal is to raise $135,000 with approximately 220 teams, 1100 bowlers and 13,000 individual sponsors.
National studies have shown that Little Brothers and Little Sisters are less likely to begin using illegal drugs & alcohol, less likely to skip school, more confident in their schoolwork performance and able to get along better with their families. Big Brothers Big Sisters was also selected by Forbes Magazine as one of its Top Ten charities, making the publication’s "Gold Star" list of charities which it believes are worthy of donor consideration.
