Internship Opportunities
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS INTERN - Provides assistance in reaching the goal of providing a mentor for every child who wants and needs one.
Responsibilities include:
- Have a chance to assist the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff working with children, parents and volunteers of various ethnic and economic backgrounds.
- Become comfortable telling the Big Brothers Big Sisters story and recruiting adult volunteer mentors to help local children on a one-to-one basis
- Assist with intakes of volunteer mentors and children then “match” them in relationships that grow into strong long-lasting friendships.
- Assist in planning activities for the children who are waiting to be ‘matched’.
Please Note:
- Being a Big Brother or Big Sister volunteer mentor does not meet the requirements of an internship.
- Being a Big Brother or Big Sister mentor can meet the volunteer requirements for some classes.

CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER VICTIM/FAMILY ADVOCATE- This Intern/Volunteer provides advocacy, support and case management services to child victims and non-offending family members.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide victim advocacy and family support services through child abuse investigations and court proceedings as well as notification of court dates and legal events
- Provide education to the client and non offending family regarding investigation, prosecution, and treatment routinely throughout the investigation and prosecution processes
- Responsible for case management duties to ensure service linkage and coordination with other agencies and service providers including participating in the evaluation and review process.

CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER CASE COORDINATOR- This Intern/Volunteer provides a supportive and coordinated response to child sexual abuse and/or cases of serious or fatal injury to a child through coordination of forensic interviews, victim/family support/advocacy and referrals.
Responsibilities include:
- Works with agencies and service providers to facilitate case coordination and information sharing.
- Refers child victims and their families to appropriate community agencies such as crisis intervention; legal advocacy; counseling agencies for medical, mental, physical, social, and educational needs.
- Maintains case records and provides assistance with appropriate documentation.
- Works closely with law enforcement agencies, schools, health, and welfare agencies.
- Assists with prevention/education curriculum development and presentation.
